For those of family genealogist who may have had a "cousin" spend some time in San Quentin Prison in San Rafael, CA since it opened in 1852, you can now own an artifact in the form of a fine quality pen made from wood recently removed and salvaged during the deconstruction of the 1885 Italianate style Prison Hospital.

San Quentin State Prison is  located near the San Francisco Bay Area. With notable inmates from both past and present including Charles Manson, Country Star Merle Haggard and Sirhan Sirhan among others, this sprawling facility holds up to 6,000 prisoners, and is so big it has its own zip code.

The Historic Pen Company has been to secure enough wood from the c.1885 original construction to make less then a dozen pens. These pens are a must for any collector, as they are rare and represent an important period of American History and our criminal justice system.

HPC is making one Cigar pen for stock and will take custom orders from our selection of pen designs to meet each collectors needs. The pens will be engraved San Quentin Prison Hospital 1885.
